The fear of Comets is known as Cometophobia. People who suffer from this phobia will exhibit symptoms of anxiety and even physical illness, when they see a comet in the night sky.

The fear of clocks is known as Chronomentrophobia. When someone has an aversion to clocks, it may signify a deeper fear – the fear of mortality.

The fear of time is known as Chronophobia. This is an understandable phobia that is usually tied in to the fear of mortality.

The fear of snow is known as Chionophobia. When someone fears snow, they may do so for a variety of reasons: from fear of frostbite and hypothermia, to a strong distaste for being out and about when there has been snowfall…there can be many triggers and explanations for this phobia.

The fear of elevators may not have a clearly defined name, but we’ll use the term Claustophobia in this article. This phobia is essentially the fear of being trapped or placed in an enclosed area.

The fear of bees is a common phobia and has its roots in many diverse sources. The more common name for this fear is Apiphobia although Melissophobia is an equally acceptable term. Either term can express the disabling fear of the Apis mellifera Linnaeus (honey bee) or any other type of stinging bee.

Fear is normal. It can help us assess situations and circumstances and make wise choices. Phobias take fear and magnify it many times until there is no way to reason with it. Acrophobia is the fear of heights. It may seem irrational, but it is definitely dangerous.

It’s often known as glossophobia although some have been content to call it ochlophobia. In the first case it is definatively the fear of public speaking while the later is the general fear of crowds.
