Rock band Foreigner released their 2nd album, Double Vision, in 1978. Their slick pop/rock sound produced many number one hits, and the song “Double Vision” became very popular. In the chorus, singer Lou Gramm laments the effects of his wild lifestyle:

There is also a film with the title, Double Vision. This Chinese movie featured the work of a crazed serial killer who implanted a strange, deadly black fungus in the brains of his victims.

Symptoms Of Diplophobia

People who fear double vision may suffer panic attacks when they feel it coming on. They may take pains to avoid alcohol, drugs, or fatigue, because they trigger the illness. They may feel a sense of doom when they experience the disorder, because they are afraid of serious health problems such as tumors or strokes. People with this phobia will feel nauseous and upset when they are faced with double vision.

Treatment Of Diplophobia

The best treatment for this phobia is medical care or psychotherapy. If there is some legitimate health concern that is triggering this disorder, proper screening by a doctor is vital. If the problem is psychological, it should be addressed by a trained professional who can get at the root of the phobia.
